Saint Jean is a tiny slice of heaven on the Cote d’Azure: a peninsula into the Riviera. My kids and I were lucky to spend a week there, even luckier I suppose because my Mother-in-Law lives there half of the year. The kids stayed with her in her apartment, and I stayed in a studio down the street. That’s an ideal set-up for a family vacation with grandparents if you are planning one. Grandma got the kids to herself, but I was still there to help and travel with the kids (and drink wine at every lunch).
One of the reasons Saint Jean has preserved its small village feeling better than some other towns on the Riviera, cough, Cannes, cough, is a really bizarre traffic situation that makes it impossible to drive through the town. Sure, there are some tourists, it is a resort town after all, but even in mid-summer you see that it retains a sweet and essentially small town French culture.
